Profit, Profit, Profit
This is just a short update as things have been busy!
A couple days ago I met with my accountant. He gave me the very good news. I finally made a (tiny) bit of profit on Raiders of the Serpent Sea.
A grand total of:
$300!
So… not terrible after 4 years (the Kickstarter funded in 2021). But also certainly not the scenario I had hoped, where I’d be able to justify perpetual development. As I transition back into the videogame’s industry, future work on Raiders will become more hobby-work than with any goal towards it becoming the way I make my living.
🙁
The good news is that any future profit that I continue to make will be saved and set aside–as long as I’m employed elsewhere and not needing it to do boring things like paying my mortgage. Which means in a couple years, I might have sufficient funds to tackle a new project.
What does this mean for things like the Foundry version of Raiders or other things I’ve talked about in the past? I have to take some time to pull my thoughts together on this but expect an update via the newsletter in March.
Until then, may all your adventures on the Serpent Sea be full of glory!
Take care,
Brent
