The Raven Says: The Village of Shifting Secrets
The following was originally posted in September’s Runic Tales newsletter. We’ll occasionally reprint content here, but if you’d like to get the latest news and goodies right away, make sure you sign up to the newsletter.
Newsletter subscribers will be the first to know when our next adventure is released (and at a special limited-time sale pricing).
Skeio: A TVAR Village
The next Raiders’ book (still untitled but codenamed: Skeio) will contain a fully fleshed out “Viking” village port belonging (more or less) to the Tvar clan. Each town location has standard descriptions if the Dungeon Master just wants to use the town as a “normal town”. But each location also provides an alternative view and special details to use under the right (wrong?) conditions. (Effectively two versions of most village locations are included!)
New Monsters & Items. I’ve added several new creatures, including additional details about tomte. There’s a a handful of new magic items too, along with revised items from the original campaign.
Episode Guide. As with The Raiding Seas, this book includes an episodic view of the adventure.
New Maps & Tables. 15+ new battlemaps are provided, covering a variety of locations in the town and surrounding areas. There’s also several random tables to help Dungeon Masters generate random horse herds, more unique NPCs, and new encounters.
Standalone. Unlike other Raiders’ material, I’m trying to make this adventure as independent as possible. Anything directly relevant to the adventure will be included, including all information about the Tvar clan (original details along with new stuff not published previously).
As well, any custom creature stat block needed is reprinted with the book, including some updates and revisions to stat blocks originally appearing in the Raiders of the Serpent Sea Campaign Book. (Likewise with magic items and so on.)
The included adventure is appropriate for five to six heroes of levels 6-8.
Pathfinder: The Dragon's Demand
My friend and former coworker from back in the BioWare days, Alan Miranda, of Ossian Studios, is running a new Kickstarter for a Pathfinder, turn-based CRPG. If you are interested in 3D tactical depth using the Pathfinder rule system, with loads of extra perks and features, do check it out:

Do You Stream Raiders of the Serpent Sea?
For the streamers out there playing Raiders of the Serpent Sea on YouTube or other services, please do send me a message (using our contact form) if you’d like me to add you to a streamer’s list I’m preparing. I hope to give some of the groups out there playing Raiders the occasional mentions in upcoming newsletters and such.
(I’ve stumbled upon some very fun campaigns but want permission before sharing. If you’d like to be included just let me know!)
Revised Creature: Corpse Swallower
This time around we have a Corpse Swallower, with some redundant wording removed. There’s also a smaller version of the flying monstrosity, aptly named a “Bug Swallower.” This is a new creature for the upcoming adventure in Skeio.
But… check out the stat block and you’ll notice something (intentionally) odd about it
There are several free downloads available to help a game master manage the Raiders of the Serpent Sea campaign. These include:
- Printable Plot Trackers
- Grimnir World Map (blank)
- Pronunciation Guide
- Tools (Treasure, World Map) – A few more random tables have been added to the Grimnir World Map for those who want help running hexcrawl versions of Raiders. If there’s enough demand, I’ll finish populating the tables sooner than later
